About Us

Invicta Fencing Club was formed in 2007 and was originally based at the Guildhall in Sandwich, then we moved to Sir Roger Manwoods School as our club got bigger, we advanced to The Baypoint, Sandwich and then later relocated to Sandwich Leisure Centre. We are now based at Westmarsh Village Hall, Westmarsh, Canterbury, Kent CT3 2LU.

We feature all three weapons (Foil, Epee and Sabre) and welcome both male and female fencers of all ages, from beginners to those aspiring towards regional, national and international competitions. The club meets at the Sandwich Leisure Centre on Wednesday evenings between 6pm and 10.00pm. The club operates throughout the year excluding August as we have found that there are just not enough people wanting to fence during this month.

All fencers can have an individual lesson from one of our three qualified coaches and are able to train and fence using steam or electric on one of the clubs three electric pistes. In addition to individual fencing lessons all members can take part in group footwork and/or fitness sessions under the guidance of one of the coaches.

The coaching team comprises of Kate Morwell-Neave, Peter Barwell and Peter Huggins. For more detailed information on either coach please see the 'Coaches' page.

The club actively promotes fitness through fencing and also offers private tuition within the club or externally if desired (please contact one of the coaching staff). Tailored competition programs can also be arranged for fencers wanting to compete in order to maximize exposure to suitable competitions at appropriate levels in an effort to further enhance club member's fencing progress.
